Threatened Ecosystems

LEAF is restoring some of the world’s most threatened ecosystems, including the East African coastal forest biodiversity hotspot: the forest that stretches from Somalia to Mozambique. The trees found in these areas have great biodiversity, high endemism and are essential for providing clean air and water to the inhabitants of these areas.

100% Native Species

We plant 100% native tree species including species threatened with extinction. This approach supports tree diversity, the return of native fauna and the long-term sequestration of carbon.

Research Driven

Our research programmes help improve restoration efforts, maximising the ecosystem services derived from our projects and benefits to local people.

A little charity with a big ambition

May 2021 saw the LEAF lead the most biodiverse tree planting event in East African History, in 2023 we aim to beat our own record!
